Directions to Class Locations Winter-Spring 2008

Great Falls Park, VA is located at the intersection of Old Dominion Drive and Georgetown Pike (Route 193). { Yahoo Map }

You can choose one of two routes to the Park:

Directions from the Beltway (Route 495) and Old Dominion Drive. Proceeding on the Beltway toward Baltimore (and the American Legion Bridge), exit onto Route 123 North (Dolley Madison Blvd.). Proceed through three (3) traffic signals to the intersection of Route 123 and Old Dominion Drive (the fourth traffic signal). Turn left onto Old Dominion Drive until you reach the intersection with Georgetown Pike (you will encounter one "fork in the road," at which you will bear left). The Park entrance will be directly in front of you. Proceed into the Park's entrance until you encounter a Ranger station. Once past the Ranger Station, continue driving in the same direction. Turn into the first parking lot on your right.

Directions from the Beltway (Route 495) Take 495 toward Baltimore (and the American Legion Bridge). Exit at Route 193 West (Georgetown Pike) and proceed on Georgetown Pike to the intersection with Old Dominion Drive (on your left at the only traffic light since crossing over the Beltway). Turn right into the Park's entrance. Proceed until you encounter a Ranger station. Once past the Ranger Station, continue driving in the same direction. Turn into the first parking lot on your right.

NOTE: Georgetown Pike is a narrow, curvy (sometimes very much so) two-lane road. Although it is also very scenic, you might be more comfortable taking the previous route.

Greenspring Village, 7440 Spring Village Drive, Springfield { Yahoo Map }

Directions from Annandale At the intersection of Little River Turnpike and Backlick Road, go south on Backlick Road. Follow Backlick Road for approximately four miles to the sign for Franconia-Springfield Parkway (Route 7900). Take the first right onto the Parkway, going west. At the first traffic light, turn right onto Spring Village Drive.

Directions from Braddock Road From Kings Park Shopping Center, drive south on Rolling Road for four miles to the Franconia- Springfield Parkway (Route 7900). Exit left at the second traffic light for the Parkway south. Continue one mile; turn left at the traffic light onto Spring Village Drive. IMPORTANT: At the guard gate, inform the attendant that you are attending a Lifetime Learning Institute class at Hunters Crossing, Village Square, or Town Center.

James Lee Community Center, 2855 Annandale Road, Falls Church { Yahoo Map }

Directions from the Beltway Take Arlington Blvd. (Rte. 50) towards Falls Church to Annandale Road. Turn left on Annandale Road (going towards the center of Falls Church) to a traffic light at James Lee Street. Turn right into the parking lot. Please enter the building on the parking lot side and take an immediate right to the classrooms.

John Marshall Library, 6209 Rose Hill Drive, Alexandria { Yahoo Map }

Directions from I 95, 395 & 495 (from the west) Exit onto Franconia-Springfield Exit heading east on Franconia Road. Turn right on Rose Hill Drive which is two traffic lights past Van Dorn Street. The library is on the left just beyond the Rose Hill Shopping Center.

Directions from 495 (from the east) Exit at Van Dorn South. Turn right on Franconia Road. Turn left on Rose Hill Drive which is two traffic lights past Van Dorn Street. The library is on the left just beyond the Rose Hill Shopping Center.

Little River United Church of Christ, 8410 Little River Turnpike, Annandale { Yahoo Map }

Directions from the Beltway West on Little River Turnpike (Route 236) to the second traffic light (you will see the NVCC campus on the left). Turn right at the light and follow the road to the church parking lot.

Directions from Wakefield Chapel Road Turn right onto Little River Turnpike (Route 236) and get into the left lane. Turn left at the first traffic light and follow the road to the church parking lot.

Mason District Governmental Center, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale { Yahoo Map }

Directions from the Beltway East on Little River Turnpike (Route 236). Turn left onto John Marr Drive (next light after passing Giant Food on the left). Turn right at the next light, which is Columbia Pike. Go through several traffic lights. Following the traffic light at the intersection with Whispering Lane, there is a sign in the median reading "Fairfax County Police Station." Proceed a short distance and turn right into the parking lot of the Center.

Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, Beulah Road, Vienna { Yahoo Map }

Directions from the Beltway (Route 495) Proceeding on the Beltway toward Baltimore (and the American Legion Bridge), exit onto Route 123 South (Dolley Madison Blvd.), and proceed through two traffic signals (past Tysons Corner Center on your left and Tysons II on your right) to the intersection with Gallows Road (the third traffic signal). Turn right onto Gallows Road, moving immediately into the left turn lane. The next intersection is with Old Courthouse Road (and another traffic signal). Turn left onto Old Courthouse Road and proceed until it intersects with Beulah Road on your left. Proceed straight through this intersection (you may notice that the road's name changed from Old Courthouse to Beulah even though you kept straight only in Virginia!). Proceed on Beulah Road until you reach Meadowlark Gardens (and Meadowlark Gardens Court) on your left. Turn into the Court and you will find parking on your left.

PLEASE PARK IN THE PAY PARKING GARAGE NEXT TO THE CULTURAL CENTER. THERE IS A $1.00 PER HOUR CHARGE TO PARK IN THE GARAGE.

Ernst Community Cultural Center (CE), also called the NVCC Cultural Center, Annandale Campus, building marked "1" on the map. The Forum is the large open space (with fireplace) on the mezzanine level. Seminar rooms are on the mezzanine level adjacent to the Forum. The Dance Room is located on the first floor behind the elevator.

CT/TV Tech (CT) Building, Computer Lab is the building marked "9" on the map.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8304 Old Keene Mill Rd. Springfield { Yahoo Map }

From NVCC Go down Wakefield Chapel Road and turn right on Braddock Road. Turn left at Burke Lake Road at traffic light and go one block and turn left onto Rolling Road. Take Rolling Road to Old Keene Mill Road and turn left. Just past the shopping center turn left into the church. Entrance is across the street from the Springfield Golf and Country Club.

From 395 Take the exit for Old Keene Mill Road and drive west until you see the Springfield Golf and Country Club on your left, just before the intersection for Rolling Road. Turn right into the church parking lot.

Providence Presbyterian Church, 9019 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax { Yahoo Map }

Directions from the Beltway Drive west on Little River Turnpike. Cross Wakefield Chapel Road and Guinea Road. Church is on the left a short distance after Guinea Road. Turn into church and go all the way to the rear to park. Enter the large double doors and immediately turn right. Go through the inside double doors and you will be in the classroom.

Directions from Fairfax Drive east on Little River Turnpike. Cross Olley Lane and go through light at Prince William Drive. Church is on the right a short distance after Prince William Drive. Turn into church and go all the way to the rear to park. Enter the large double doors and immediately turn right. Go through the inside double doors and you will be in the classroom.

St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, 8617 Little River Turnpike, Annandale { Yahoo Map }

Directions from the Beltway West on Little River Turnpike (Route 236). Pass the NVCC campus and Wakefield Chapel Road (second and third traffic lights). Take the next left (which does not have a traffic light) onto Wakefield Drive; immediately turn right and then left into the church parking lot. Park in spaces near the left-hand side of the church since you will be entering the building through a basement door on the left side.

Directions from Braddock Road going East Turn left onto Wakefield Chapel Road. Continue for approximately 1.3 miles (passing NVCC on the right) and turn left onto Virginia Avenue. At the stop sign turn right onto Wakefield Drive and then turn left into the church parking lot.

Directions from Annandale

Take Rte. 236, Little River Turnpike, and turn right on Prosperity Rd. Take Prosperity to Rte. 29 and turn right. Just past the Merrifield Post Office, turn right at the traffic light and turn left on the service road running parallel to Rte. 29. Turn right onto Eskridge, between United Rental and the PNC Bank.

WETA Building, 2775 S. Quincy St., Arlington { Yahoo Map }

From Beltway Take 395 North toward Washington and go to Exit 6, Shirlington. Go around the traffic circle to the exit for S. Quincy Street. Turn right at the traffic light onto S. Quincy Street and go to the rear of the WETA Building and turn right. Enter the Building's parking garage and park in any space that does not have a "Reserved" sign. There is a walkway to the lobby where you will be greeted, given a name tag and taken to the 6th Floor where the classroom is located.
