The Forum room is located on the second level of the Ernst Cultural
Center, NOVA-Annandale Campus. Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be
served at 9:30 a.m.
LLI's May 1 Forum speaker, Mr. Mike Canning, talked with LLI member Dianne Boyle after his presentation of "Hollywood on the Potomac." Mr. Canning's talk was insightful and fun for "D.C.-area locals" to listen to.
The Information Fair held during the May 1 Forum was a great success. Members learned a lot about specific LLI programs and activities and had a chance to chat with each other.
The pictures below show some LLI members who participated in the Poetry Group's Valentine's Day Celebration on February 8.

LLI Student Scholarship Program
Pictured above are NOVA-Annandale students who were presented LLI scholarships at the June 6 Forum. Also shown are members of the LLI Student Awards Committee.
In 1999 LLI established a Student Scholarship Program at the Northern Virginia Community College-Annandale
Campus to give much needed financial help to outstanding students. This is in appreciation and recognition of
the support provided by the college to LLI, as well as an opportunity to support a most worthy cause.

Cancellations Due to Inclement Weather
If the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) cancel school for the day due to inclement weather, all LLI classes, special activity groups (SIGs), and forums are cancelled regardless of location. LLI morning activities are cancelled if the FCPS announces a 2-hour delay in class openings; LLI afternoon activities are cancelled if the FCPS announces early dismissal. Trips and social events will take place unless cancelled at the leaders' directions.
On July 12 the LLI Gourmands again celebrated Bastille Day in fine Gallic style at L’ Auberge Chez Francois. This has become an annual event.

CAMPUS PARKING FOR THE HANDICAPPED
NVCC does not issue special permits for using the parking spaces designated for the handicapped

District of Columbia are honored. The permit must be properly displayed
and used only by the person or persons to whom it is
issued. There is no change to the handicap parking regulations on campus.

Handymen/Tradesmen Recommendations
The purpose of the Handymen and Tradesmen list is to provide LLI members with the names of
handymen/tradesmen that other LLI members have not only employed but whose work they were so satisfied with that they believe the individual
warrants being recommended to fellow LLI members.
Only LLI members may make these recommendations. In making these recommendations, LLI does not warrant, guarantee, and /or in any way promise
satisfactory results to LLI members if and when they select a person from the list. The list is understood to be solely informational in nature.
LLI members may send handymen/tradesmen information (Name, Phone No., and Services Provided) to
Anne Austin ().

Did You Know?
As a member of LLI you have a wonderful Northern Virginia Community College Library at your disposal. The library is located on the third floor of the Godwin Building. This is just up the ramp from the Richard J. Ernest Community and Cultural Center. To use the library you simply sign up for a Community Patron card by showing a picture ID. You then can charge out a limit of three books for three weeks and take them home. Also you can renew books online for an additional period. If you have LLI classes on the campus, this resource would be very convenient. Go to http://www.nvcc.edu/library for more information.
